Overview

The advent of Fax gateways for the computer now allows you to send and receive text and graphics at the desk. The capability can increase employee productivity and lower your costs. There is no longer the need to print a document, then stand at a fax machine to send it. In today's market, not having a direct FAX application can be costly.

Description:

WCF_Fax is a VMS print symbiont which acts as an interface between your computer and a Multi-Tech Class 2 Modem. WCF_Fax presents itself to your system as a standard print queue. It uses dual queue processing for file rendering and file transmission.

Installation:

WCF_Fax uses VMS Install. The program CONFIGURE_QUEUE is provided to configure and set up your fax queues.

Features:

   Software Interfaces

• CONFIGURE_QUEUE - An easy to use interface for defining and setting up fax queues.
• QFAX - Menu interface that allows users to : send documents, View Queue Entries, Create a file using EVE, Edit and existing file using EVE, or Maintain a person phone book.
• DCL Command - Use standard DCL print commands.
• Direct interface for your existing site specific applications. Applications such as Purchase Orders, Invoicing, Order Acknowledgements and Quotations.

   Send

Send documents directly from a terminal or workstation, using PATHWORKS you can send from a PC. Direct sending eliminates the need to print before transmitting a document.

   Receive

Received faxes are stored in a file. This file is converted and output to a laser printer. This eliminates fax quality paper. Stored files may be reprinted at anytime.

   Logging Function

WCF_Fax logs information regarding each inbound and outbound fax in a file that may be viewed at anytime. Includes a database file which records information regarding each fax try.

   Queue Management

The WCF_Fax software uses the standard VMS Queue manager to handle entries in the fax queue.

   Delayed transmission

Lower your phone charges by delaying transmission time and take advantage of off-peak rates.

   Auto Retry

Faxes will be re queued for transmission if the receiving machine is busy or disconnects. The number of retries and the amount of time between each attempt can be configured to meet your site specific needs. Set up to 40 retries with a retry interval from 1 to 99 minutes.

   PATHWORKS (Advanced Server)

WCF_Fax is a standard VMS print symbiont, therefore you have the ability to offer fax print services to PATHWORKS users on a PC as well.

   Postscript Compatibility

WCF_Fax is compatible with applications that create postscript level 1 type output. WCF_SCRIPT is the postscript compatible option included with WCF_Fax.

   Logos, Signatures, and Graphics

Postscript capabilities allow you to use any postscript compatible graphics application to create and edit graphical images for transmission.

   Forms Overlay

WCF_Fax also includes the capability to create a form overlay that can be merged with text.

   Encrypted Faxing

A specialized feature of the software allows you to encrypt sensitive files and transmit them to other WCF_Fax sites. The receiving WCF_Fax site has the ability to "decrypt" the file for printing. WCF uses this feature to fax save sets of software upgrades to clients using the receive function.
