Swap Meister - Jeri Harrison
I've always been interested in crafts, even as a child. Quite a few years ago I found some Sculpey at the local craft store and decided to make some Christmas ornaments with it. (They only had one color back then) A few years later I again found some Sculpey III, but this time it was sitting next to a book, The New Clay. Fascinated by all of the wonderful possibilities I bought that book with a bunch of Sculpey III. I rushed home, threw open the door, ran to my work area, and promptly put it under the bed. I don't know what made me go get it, but one evening I finally decided to read that book. I guess I'd have to say it has actually changed my life. I've been working at home for over a year now, doing desktop publishing, and I've found polymer clay a wonderful hobby to keep me busy during my slow work periods.
Polymer clay has since become more than a mere hobby. I've ensconced myself into the entire polymer clay community and religiously visit the polymer clay newsgroup on the Internet. I've recently become a member of both the NY and National Polymer Clay Guilds.
Although I've already sold a couple of pieces, I hope to start selling my jewelry regularly to earn extra income.
The pendants I made for the swap are my homage to City Zen Cane and Pier Volkous. I've recently taken workshops with both. Each of these workshops were unique in themselves. I learned quite a bit and I thoroughly enjoyed each workshop. Although I didn't learn the particular techniques that I used in my pendants from CZC or Pier, I think it is quite obvious how much I admire their work and wanted to expand on their techniques.
I welcome any comments, suggestions, or questions.
