Eva Hurliman

My background is science and math. I have taught both chemistry and math in high school and college. Recently I returned to school to get an MA in archaeology.

I had played with polymer clay before but found it a bit "garish". I had a lot to learn about clay. A year ago I took a class from Tory Hughes teaching how to make faux jade, coral, turquoise, and ivory. This technique combined with my interest in archaeology really fascinated me. I try to make my pieces replicas of ancient works.

I also weave, knit and work hot glass. Future works will combine these crafts with polymer clay. I have done a necklace of faux jade and coral on a woven background.
